Dog Treats Italiano (Veggie homemade dog treats):

Preheat oven to 350˚.  Have oven rack in middle.  Lightly grease a large baking sheet.

Thoroughly mix the following for healthy dog treats::

  • 3 cups Italian flat-leafed parsley
  • ¼ cup finely chopped carrots
  • ¼ cup parmesan or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Mix together dry ingredients as follows:

  • 2 ¾ cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons bran
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Combine and mix the wet and dry ingredients for the dog treats while gradually adding ½ to 1 cup of water until you have a moist, but not wet, dough.  If required, add a little more water.  Knead homemade dog treats for one minute.  Roll dough out to ½ inch thickness.  Using dog bones shaped cookie cutters or others, or even a glass, cut out shapes and transfer them to the baking sheet.

Dog treats are baked for 20 - 30 minutes until they have browned and hardened slightly.  Remove to wire racks to cool.  The dog biscuits will continue to harden as they cool.  Store the homemade dog treats in an airtight container.  Other recipes of interest:
